Black Earth Wisdom

Black Earth Wisdom, a social eco-justice cooperative brand, dedicated to ending anti-Blackness for melanated earth stewards across the globe. Through the shared creation of intentionally made and reverently developed products with indigenous rural communities, Black Earth Wisdom creates a platform for the storytelling of nature, the science of melanin and the power of black matter throughout all of life.

Through accessible and creative intergenerational education and resource sharing, Black Earth Wisdom aims to ensure that its home inspired products are as equally effective in changing the narrative as are the efforts to advocate and organize behind the needs of our communities. As curriculum development and artist teacher training, Black Earth Wisdom will support transforming the narrative of the stories of invisablized melanated histories through caste, colonialism and the forced migration or kidnapping of those of darker hues. The first partnership to include, Portugal’s African Lisbon Tour founder, Naky Gaglo and the East and West African Portuguese artists and educators.

In … Black Earth Wisdom began building a living story archive or interviews and talks by farmers, growers, earth ceremonial keepers who share their knowledge and relationship to the soil, the night sky, barks of the trees and the dark depths of the sea. The series titled, Black Earth Wisdom Radio, held on instagram live, Clubhouse and KPFA radio initiated its run in the … Black Earth Wisdom Radio will launch a podcast in the fall of 2023 continuing the intention to lift the voices of melanated earth stewards everywhere.

This Spring in 2023, the inaugural 7-day virtual un-conference, or generative space for guest speakers and community to share resources, information and to collectively problem solve around aspects of climate change, the impact of anti-Blackness both for communities of color and on the planet and how indigenous wisdom can support the healing of our planet and relationship to one another. This years partners and shared producers for the un-conference are, Song Of the Spirit Institute, Soul Fire Farm and Leah Penniman, author of the book Farming While Black (superscript) and new published book Black Earth Wisdom: (the sister project to the existing Black Earth Wisdom brand.
